Artist Statement /
I am unconventional. I don’t have a shtick. If I were forced to adhere to a singular, repetitive style, I would rather be dead. I am self-taught. I do what I want. I make what I like. I create what feels authentic to me. That might be a painting, a sculpture, a chair, or a paperclip. My work is concept driven and resists categorization by design. It shifts mediums as often as it shifts moods. The through-line is not style. It is intent.
I also run a multidisciplinary design studio called dl/s (Davey Leavitt Studio), where I collaborate with brands and produce curated editions of my work, including prints, apparel, books, furniture, objects, and other things that probably didn’t need to exist until they did.
